Bouwmeister Landscaping is the product of three generations of landscaping expertise. The grandfather of the company’s owners, Gary and John (JJ) Bouwmeister was a landscape gardener in Holland. In 1957, he immigrated to Canada along with his son, Gary’s father, Bernard Bouwmeister. Bernard started his own landscaping company, New Holland Landscaping, in 1960, in the Unionville area. Gary worked with his father while in highschool, and gained a passion for the business, leading him to earn a Horticultural Diploma from Humber College in 1980. In 1981, he founded Bouwmeister Landscaping Ltd, following in the footsteps of his forebears. In late 1982, Gary moved Bouwmeister Landscaping Ltd from its original location in Stouffville to its current office, where it remains today.
In 2005, Gary joined forces with his cousin, John, who holds diplomas from Humber College’s Horticulture program, Ryerson’s Landscape Architecture program, and the Toronto School of Business. Between them, Gary and John have more than 40 years experience in landscaping technology and landscape design, allowing them to bring peace of mind to both current and prospective clients. They reinforce this experience with academic achievements in landscape architecture, horticulture, and business practice. Client satisfaction and confidence is guaranteed.
With a degree in landscape technology and design, Gary has won several awards including Corporate citizen of the Year and Business entrepreneur award. He is very active in community work and supports several charities.
